Mizzou enrollment of Black and African American students decreases

The number of Black and African American students at Mizzou peaked in 2014 with 2,553 students and has since been on the decline.

A series of student protests against racist and discriminatory acts took place on Mizzou’s campus in 2015. The protests were led by the activist group Concerned Student 1950, named after the year Black students were first admitted to the university, and resulted in the resignations of former UM System President Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.
