Remediation Was Delayed For 84% Of Lead-Laden Water Fixtures

This chart shows the time it took New York City’s Department of Education to repair and retest water sources with elevated lead, 2018-2019. Most of the high-lead water fixtures sat out of service for more than a month while they waited for repairs or post-repair screening, according to the comptroller’s audit.

">190 days" includes 10 high-lead fixtures that had not received their post-repair test by October 2020, when the Comptroller's Office collected these data.
