Alabama Senate Republican school choice voting analysis comparing rural to urban/suburban

This bar chart displays votes on an Education Savings Account (ESA) program from HB 129 in 2024. "Yes" votes were in support of expanding ESAs and coded "support" to private school choice, and "No" votes were opposed to expanding ESAs and coded "oppose"

Senate districts that contained at least one rural school district were classified as rural, while Senate districts that did not contain any rural school districts were classified as urban/suburban (or not rural). The Census' definition and designation of rural was used to classified school districts.
