The fall of Roe led to a drop in legal abortions in the U.S.

The number of legal abortions performed in the U.S. fell by about 6% in the six months after the Supreme Court's Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, according to the WeCount report from the Society of Family Planning. The Dobbs ruling upended abortion rights across the U.S. and sent a patchwork of state laws into effect. States that further restricted abortion access are highlighted in red. Select states from the Midwest and surrounding areas shown below.

Pre-Dobbs months were April and May, post-Dobbs months were July through December.
