Early Midterm Turnout

Early votes as a share of the voting-eligible population, by days left to the election

Note: Early votes include mail and absentee ballots, as well as early in-person voting, as reported the day of the election. Each year's line only includes the states for which we have data, ranging from 36 in 2014 to 49 (48 states plus D.C.) in 2026. The 2026 data is incomplete. We took a snapshot as of 5 p.m. on Nov. 2, but some states will be late to report.
