After growing for most of the pandemic, the gap between male and female labor force participation very recently returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Estimated labor force participation rates for men and women. Not seasonally adjusted. Massachusetts.

Labor force participation rates (LFPR) for each group are developed by applying the ratio of LFPRs between each group and the total population using 6 months of Basic Monthly Current Population Survey data to the official quarterly statewide LFPR published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Estimates should be interpreted with caution. Based on methodology developed by the Economic Policy Institute.
