'Peace officers' have abused residents at homeless shelters across the city

The majority of 66 recorded cases of misconduct by officers in the Department of Homeless Services Police happened at over a dozen shelters meant to provide temporary, emergency shelter.

Note on the data: This map includes 19 New York City-area shelters, including one in Orange County, where 36 separate incidents took place. Three incidents happened off-duty, while the other 27 incidents could not be located, as the shelter names and addresses were redacted in the documents MuckRock and New York Focus obtained.
