Regional geothermal industrial policy boosts regional gains and national growth

Figures represent national geothermal capacity additions from 2025 to 2035. States modeled as in-region include Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Regional geothermal industrial policy refers to a set of state actions collectively enacted across the South-Central and Southwestern United States.

Note: State action refers to a 20% investment tax credit for clean firm power coupled with a production tax credit for geothermal turbines. Enhanced state action refers to a 20% investment tax credit for geothermal power plus a loan program for geothermal deployment; geothermal permitting reform; and a more robust turbine production tax credit.
