College Closings Leave Thousands of Faculty Members Adrift

Since 2016, when Dowling College closed, at least 21 other four-year, private, nonprofit institutions have closed or plan to do so by the end of the year.

Note: Faculty and student data are the last reported fall-enrollment and instructional-staff data for the institution. Institutions slated to close in 2019 will shut down at the end of the 2018-19 academic year.
