Republicans are less likely to view the federal Social Security tax and state sales tax as the least fair. Independents are also much more likely to view the federal income tax as the least fair, increasing from 21% to 34%. Independents are less likely to see the state sales tax and property tax as the least fair. Democrats' opinions of the federal income tax have not changed. They are less likely to view the property tax as least fair and more likely to view the state sales tax as least fair.
