The typical Gen Z worker started saving for retirement about 15 years earlier than their baby boomer counterparts.
The area chart shows the median age that members of each generation represented started saving for retirement. On average, members of Generation Z started saving for retirement at 20 years old, Millennials at 26, Generation X at 30, and Baby Boomers at 35 years old.
