Noise complaints, citations spiking in Madera County

Madera County reviews noise complaints before issuing notices of violation. Citations are issued to property owners who receive multiple complaints. If the offenders fail to pay the citations, the county puts a lien on their property. If they fail to pay the lien by Aug. 1, it is assessed into their property taxes.

From 2023 to 2024, the number of total noise complaints in Madera County increased 241%. The number of notices of noise violation that the county issued to offenders rose 958% in that time.
