Sea level rise driven by ice sheet melting, 2002-present

The data are in millimeters of sea level change. 

The original NASA data are from the GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) satellites and are provided in gigatons, or billion metric tons, of ice loss. 360 gigatons of ice loss equals 1 millimeter of sea level rise. The data gap between mid-2017 and mid-2018 is due to the changeover between the GRACE and the GRACE-FO (GRACE Follow-On) satellite missions. Other contributors to sea level rise not shown here include the melting of mountain glaciers around the world, and the warming of the ocean, which causes water to expand.
