Where Speeding Kills Most: Top 10 States
Texas leads the nation in speeding deaths by a wide margin, reporting 1,496 lives lost, well ahead of California's 1,139. Together those two states account for nearly a quarter of all 11,288 speeding deaths nationwide. North Carolina rounds out a distant third at 676, and the rest of the top 10, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Illinois, South Carolina, New York, Florida, and Georgia, each report between 339 and 446 deaths, showing that while a few large states dominate the total count, speeding fatalities are a widespread problem across very different regions of the country.
