Funding for the Texas Alternatives to Abortion program has increased 20-fold since 2005

In 2005, Texas created a program aimed at deterring women from ending their pregnancies by offering counseling and classes and referring them to social services. Since then, lawmakers have increased funding for the program about 1,900% in the state's biennial health budget during legislative sessions.
