G3* grades and their G2 equivalents

Starting with the 2028 intake, students applying to polytechnics will be able to use one best subject at the G2 level in their ELR2B2** aggregate score. Those who take two best subjects at the G3 level will have the best subject with a lower grade mapped to the corresponding G2 score.

NOTE: *G stands for General, where students can take subjects at three levels, broadly mapped from the Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) standards. **This refers to English language, two subjects relevant (R) to students' polytechnic course choice, and the two best (B) subjects where they obtained the next highest scores.
