There was a 1.5% cut in General Education funds in 2021. However, funds increased in 2021 for charter schools by 4.2% and school safety by 4.8%. During the 2021 Fiscal Year, the DOE became responsible for training and supervising more than 5,000 NYPD school safety agents.
