Pa. Voters’ Registration Changes, By Party

Pennsylvania voters have made nearly 30,000 party registration changes so far in 2021, and they differ significantly from the 1.69 million changes made from 2008 through 2020.

This year, 35% of changes are Republican registrants switching to third-party or independent, compared with what used to be just 9% of changes. An additional 29% of changes so far are Republicans switching to registering as Democrats, compared with 18% prior.

As of Feb. 16, 2021. Each registration is counted separately, meaning the same voter switching back and forth is counted repeatedly as separate changes.
