Few Central Floridians have flood insurance

Many Floridians who live in coastal areas insure their homes for flooding but Central Floridians mostly opt out despite the growing risk. Here is a look at the totals for 2024.

The numbers above reflect policies through the National Flood Insurance Program, managed by FEMA. About two percent of state residents have private flood insurance, which provides better coverage at a steeper cost.
