Majority says police are treated too leniently by the criminal justice system

A new AP-NORC poll finds roughly two-thirds of Americans say that the criminal justice system treats police officers who cause injury or death too leniently, up significantly from about 4 in 10 in 2015.

Results based on interviews with 1,310 U.S. adults conducted June 11–15. The margin of error is ±3.7 percentage points for the full sample.
