Average teacher pay rose about 6.2% statewide from 2022-23 to 2023-24. Some parts of California are more expensive than others. For instance, it would take 14 years for a San Francisco Unified teacher earning average pay for the district to buy a typically-priced San Francisco home, if they put all their paycheck toward the purchase.
