Losing a Parent to COVID-19

Children in New York City are almost two times more likely to lose a parent or caregiver to COVID-19, compared to children across the U.S. Black, Hispanic and Asian children are disproportionately affected.

Children affected per 100K (rate)

Note: The Hispanic category includes all children who identify as ethnically Hispanic, regardless of their race. All counts for racial groups exclude children with Hispanic ethnicity. Estimates for Hawaiian and Pacific Islander and American Indian and Alaskan Native children in New York City are not presented separately due to their small sample size.
