US wildfires caused by humans spike around July 4

Far more U.S. wildfires are caused by human actions around July 4, when fireworks are common, than any other day of the year. The chart shows the daily average over 1992 to 2020.

There is a dip in the data in late February because Feb. 29 only happens every four years.
