Income, taxes and housing costs in area cities

Athens is the only city in southeast Ohio where median household income is below the minimum living wage. It also has the lowest percentage of owner-occupied homes, the highest median home values, the highest median monthly rent — and the highest combined income tax rate (municipal + school district).
