Most Americans Oppose Executing Mentally Ill People

According to a survey conducted last year by the nonprofit Justice Research Group, a majority of Americans across the political spectrum say they either “strongly oppose” or “somewhat oppose” using the death penalty for people who are diagnosed with mental illness.
