Brazil's oil production has surged, gas is trending upward, and water continues to be extracted with these resources.

Conversion of 5800 standard cubic feet per barrel of oil used to convert gas to boe/d. Produced water is the water that accompanies oil and gas during extraction that comes from the reservoir. After treatment, it is disposed of by re-injection into the reservoir, injection into a dedicated disposal well, or discharged into the ocean or open tanks for evaporation. The recent uptick in produced water is likely associated with increased onshore oil production, which has relatively high water-to-oil ratios.
