Proposed gas line would run 800 miles across Alaska

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline carries crude oil from Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's petroleum-rich North Slope south to the port of Valdez. A proposed second pipeline, on a route for which the state-owned Alaska Gasline Development Corporation has permits, would bring natural gas south to customers in and around Anchorage, and to an export terminal at Nikiski.
