Weather-Related Crash Breakdown in the U.S. (2019–2023)

On average, there are over 6,035,000 vehicle crashes each year. Approximately 12 percent of these crashes are weather-related. This chart shows the share of U.S. weather-related crashes by condition, using a five-year average from 2019 to 2023. Rain and mist account for nearly three-quarters of all weather-related crashes, far outweighing snow, ice, fog, or severe wind.
