South Dakota home to 3rd highest rate of maternal care deserts

In South Dakota, 63 percent of its counties are classified as maternal care deserts. That means there are no known hospitals providing obstetric care, no birth centers, no OB-GYNs and no certified nurse midwives in 41 of the state's counties.
