Payments to S.C. doctors from drug, medical device companies

Thirty-one S.C. doctors were paid more than $500,000 by drug or device companies over the past five years, according to federal data analyzed by ProPublica. The payments are for a variety of services, including consulting work or promotional speaking on behalf of drug or device companies, as well as reimbursements for travel, lodging and meals.

Data does not include royalties, research payments or ownership interest in a drug company or device manufacturer. Data spans from 2014-2018. *Included in the amount for the highest earner, Kerry Solomon, is a $2.5 million transaction in which he sold intellectual property to a German medical device company.
