Fatality rate reflects deaths per 100,000 residents in crashes involving a driver with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 g/dL or higher, the federal legal limit in the United States. Per capita rates were calculated using 2024 U.S. Census Bureau population estimates. Data represents all fatal motor vehicle crashes reported across the United States for the full calendar year 2024 and includes all crash types where the highest recorded driver BAC met or exceeded the legal threshold.
