Oregon’s farmed land is shrinking

The number of acres farmed has shrunk over the last 75 years. A landmark 1973 farm bill slowed the precipitous drops in the 1950s and 1960s. But acres have continued to tumble in recent decades and years, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which historically has conducted censuses every four to five years.
