Most of the species cats eat are not in danger

But significant proportions of them are rated as meriting conservation support by the International Union for Conservation of Nature on its Red List of species vulnerability. The data spans more than a century, during which time some species went extinct.

The extinct figures include species identified as either "extinct in the wild" or "extinct" in the IUCN Red List as of 2023. The figures for insufficient information include species listed as "not evaluated" and "data deficient" in the IUCN Red List.
