For three consecutive years, Chavez's council district office paid a contractor more than the city's threshold for contracts exempt from city council approval

From the 2023 fiscal year until the 2025 fiscal year, Luis Chavez's council district office paid Local Government Strategic Consulting more than the city's threshold for government contracts exempt from city council approval. The contracts between Chavez's council office and the third party contractor never went before the Fresno City Council for approval, and were therefore subject to the threshold limit. For years, that limit was $50,000, and it was increased to $100,000 on June 20, 2024.
