Black, Hispanic students performed 20+ percentage points below their peers in reading

Mike Morath declared that “the future of the state is delivering great results for brown and Black kids.” Today, double-digit gaps in the percentage of students meeting grade level on Texas' reading exams persist even as students have rebounded from COVID disruptions. Black-white and Black-Asian reading gaps have narrowed some. Hispanic-white and Hispanic-Asian gaps have stagnated.
