Job Growth in the Nation’s Largest Counties

The number of jobs in Philadelphia grew by nearly 14% from 2020 to 2024, a larger increase than the average of the nation’s 25 largest counties. In previous time frames that were analyzed, the change in employment trailed the 25-county average.

Note: Data reflects employment totals in the 25 U.S. counties with the most jobs. Counties are labeled by the name of its largest city, although some cities and counties (such as Philadelphia) share the same borders.
