In the U.S., Black women seek out abortions at disproportionate rates

Nationwide, among states that provided data to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, more than 38% of abortion patients are Black, while only 13% of the population is Black.

Note: Abortion data from 2019 is the latest available. This data does not include 22 states that did not report, did not report by race/ethnicity, or did not meet reporting standards. While Montana and Wyoming provided information, their data was suppressed because of their low Black population.
