Data comes from the Center for Medicare Statistics for 2023, the latest year available for the full data, specifically for Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 and older. Payout per beneficiary represents the actual healthcare costs paid by Medicare for original Medicare (Part A and B) users. Senior health risks are indexed with a score higher than 1 indicating a higher tendency for health complications, and vice versa.
