Figure 2: Employer motivations for apprenticeship training

Employers providing apprenticeship training were significantly more likely to be motivated by retention, the need to replace retiring workers and "get the right skills," and by disappointment with college graduates’ skills than employers who did not provide apprenticeship training.

This graphic relates to a survey item that asked: “How applicable are the following reasons for offering training?” Respondents ranked different choices on a Likert scale from “not applicable” to “extremely applicable” (1-5). The bar chart above shows the average rating of the importance of different reasons for training among ETS respondents. Reasons that were found to be significantly more important (p <= .05) for apprenticeship providers are highlighted.
