How Nebraska school districts filled positions for the 2025-26 school year by county type
Despite improvements, small urban counties are still the most likely to leave a position vacant and the least likely to hire a fully qualified teacher.

Small urban districts have the lowest share of fully qualified teachers at about 83.7%, the highest share of alternatively qualified teachers at about 12.6%, and about 3.7% left vacant. Overall, small urban districts rely more on alternatively qualified teachers and still have slightly more vacancies than other district types.
