Federal Funds Rate On Hold at Its Highest Level Since 2001

The Fed increased the federal funds rate 11 times in 12 meetings between March 2022 and July 2023, but it has held its benchmark rate steady since then.

Prior to December 2008, the Federal Reserve specified a singular target rate. Since then, it has presented the federal funds rate as a 0.25% target range. The blue segments represent the high and low ends of the target range.
