According to a Mississippi Today review of state expenditures on state's transparency website, Mississippi agencies have paid radio station Telesouth Communications Inc., also known as conservative talk radio station SuperTalk, about $6.2 million from fiscal year 2009 to June 30, 2022. The agencies who have paid the most to SuperTalk are the Department of Transportation ($2.3 million), the Department of Public Safety ($1 million) and the state's welfare agency, the Department of Human Services ($778,670). These payments do not include public funds the company may have received from grant-funded entities operating as a "flow through," such as Mississippi Community Education Center and Family Resource Center of North Mississippi, which paid Telesouth a combined $632,318 in federal funds from 2017-2019, according to a report by the state auditor.
