InvestigateWest identified eight states with affirmative defenses that acknowledge the risks that parents can face when trying to intervene during the abuse of a child. Those states are Hawaii, Iowa, Oklahoma, Minnesota, South Dakota, Michigan, Ohio and Vermont.
