Railhead for future track work

A new railhead between Wasco and Shafter in Kern County will set the stage for future installation of tracks, signalling and other operating systems for California's high-speed rail project in the San Joaquin Valley.

Construction Package 4, from the Tulare-Kern county line to Poplar Avenue near Shafter, is substantially completed. The railhead near Shafter will serve as a staging area for future track work. Work has yet to begin on extending the route south into Bakersfield.
