What Is Broadband?

The Congressional Research Service defines broadband as "high-speed internet service that is faster than traditional dial-up internet service and offers an 'always on' connection." But what that means in terms of speed, measured by megabits per second (Mbps), has varied.

Note: The speeds here are based on fixed broadband, offered by static lines into a home or business, and not on mobile performance.
