Mapping Mass Shootings by County Type Through Dec. 1

Mass shootings involving 4 or more people shot or killed, not including the shooter, were most prevalent in the Northeast, Upper Midwest, South, and Southwest between January 1 and December 1, 2025, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Big Cities accounted for 45% of mass shootings and the African American South accounted for 16%, based on an analysis by the American Communities Project.
