The changing mass of the world's ice sheets

The chart shows more than two decades of data from NASA's GRACE and GRACE-FO satellite missions. The data are in billion metric tons, or gigatons, of ice.

Values are relative to April 2002. The gap in the data between mid-2017 and mid-2018 is due to the changeover between the GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) and the GRACE-FO (GRACE Follow-On) satellite missions.
