The euro has lost value since 2008. To prevent the Swiss franc from skyrocketing, the Swiss National Bank introduced a minimum exchange rate of CHF 1.20 from September, 2011. This measure was abolished on 15 January, 2015. For several months, both currencies traded practically at parity before the euro regained strength from 2017.
