The figures are based on data from mountain rescue organisations. They only refer to accidents occurring during the practice of classic mountain activities without the use of means of transport (hiking, mountaineering, off-piste skiing, etc...). Paragliding, base jumping, mountain biking and other accidents arising from such sports are not taken into account.
