Education Funding Effort, 2024

States vary massively in the level of economic effort invested in funding for public K-12 education. The effort ratio compares annual current expenditures for public education in each state to the total size of that state's economy. Revenues that power these expenditures include funds from state, local, and federal sources.

Relative to their economy, the states in the northeast spend most generously on public K-12 education. California is stingier, but not as tight as Florida.
